My story
If you had asked 15-year old me what I wanted to be when I grew up,
I would have answered “to run my own accountancy business”.
Numbers, finance, economics, accounting, financial reports, annual accounts fascinated me from a very young age, and growing up in Italy, where my grandfather ran his own accountancy firm cemented that interest.
What does this have to do with translation?
Well at the age of 15 I discovered yet another passion: learning languages.
I completed Italian accountancy high school whilst studying English too.
Armed with tenacity and courage, I moved to the UK where I obtained a BA with Honors in Business Administration and finessed my English.
Subsequently, I further qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant whilst working in the City of London for a number of large organisations.
Most of the companies I have worked for have had a large European footprint so I was often tasked with translating financial data from Italian into English to allow for thorough consolidation of financial results.
It was here that I developed my love of combining translation with numbers.
I hold a Masters in Translation recognised by the European Masters Translation partnership and I am also a chartered member of the Institute of Linguistic (MCIOL) and qualified member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (MITI) in the UK and Ireland.

How I work
My approach involves the following steps:
1
Free Initial Consultation
Our work together always begins with a discussion about where you are with your text or content and where you want to be – my job is to listen and to help you identify what your next step needs to be.
2
Research
In-depth research into your business or organisation, via your website and any other reference materials you provide, as needed.
3
Terminology
Select accurate terminology appropriate for your sector and even unique to your brand, if required.
4
Tone of voice
Time spent immersing myself in your brand voice, discussing with you any specific requirements and complying with your style guide.
5
Software
Use of industry-leading translation memory software (SDL Trados and MemoQ) to ensure your formatting is preserved and your content is consistent across all the projects I deliver for you.
I DO NOT however use machine or automated translation!
6
Open Communication
Discussion and clarification of any ambiguities or more complex sections of your text, so that I can convey exactly the meaning to your target audience.
7
100% Satisfaction
Open to receive and act on feedback, amending copy until you are 100% happy.
